Who we are

Local at heart. Built for the wild

Empindura Safaris is a locally owned company connecting travellers with the wildlife, cultures and landscapes of East Africa - one honest, hand-built itinerary at a time.

Our story

Built on a lifelong love for this land

Empindura Safaris was created to connect travellers with the rich wildlife, cultures and landscapes of East Africa through responsible travel. We specialise in tailor-made safaris across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania, with mountain gorillas and chimpanzees at the very heart of our story.

Our founders built the company on a lifelong appreciation for nature, conservation and authentic African experiences. We measure a successful trip not only by the memories our guests take home, but by the value left behind in the places they visit - for the wildlife, the land, and the people who call it home.

At the heart of our story

Great ape tourism, done responsibly

Uganda and Rwanda are home to some of the world's last remaining mountain gorillas, while Uganda also protects thriving populations of chimpanzees in its tropical forests. We're proud to introduce visitors to these remarkable primates through carefully planned trekking experiences that follow strict conservation guidelines.

By promoting responsible gorilla and chimpanzee tourism, we help support protected areas, wildlife authorities, researchers, rangers, and the communities living alongside these forests.

Our story

Conservation succeeds together

We recognise that conservation succeeds when local people benefit from tourism. That's why we work closely with community-owned lodges, local guides, craft markets, cultural groups, farmers and family-run businesses wherever possible.

Our guests have opportunities to experience authentic village life, cultural performances, traditional cuisine and community projects that create meaningful connections while generating income for local families.

Our wider commitment

Protecting more than the great apes

Environmental responsibility runs through every safari we operate - and our love for East Africa's wildlife doesn't stop at gorillas and chimpanzees.

Low-Impact Travel

We encourage low-impact travel, support eco-conscious accommodation partners, and promote responsible waste management on every trip.

Habitat Education

We educate travellers about protecting wildlife habitats - every visitor has a role to play in preserving Africa's forests, rivers and savannahs.

Diversity Beyond the Apes

From elephants and lions to giraffes, rhinos and rare birds - we celebrate the incredible diversity of East Africa's protected ecosystems.

Every traveller is different

I love the moment a traveller realises their trip doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
